Macro Group along with Saint-Petersburg State University of Telecommunications held the International conference, devoted to the electronic industry development in Russia. The Conference took place in Saint-Petersburg in the middle of June.

More than 150 experts - representatives of manufacturers, engineering and consulting companies, contractors and distributors gathered within the lecture-rooms of Saint-Petersburg State University of Telecommunications to discuss and find a new competitive model of Russian electronics industry. A model that would be suitable both for the manufacturers, consumers and the government.

In the field of electronics the demand - as everywhere - is being formed by consumers on the one hand, and by the government - on the other. The crisis has abruptly influenced the consumption of the electronics in Russia. The competitive activity for the solvent customers considerably grew, within the market everybody is trying to raise their efficiency of cooperation between each other. The role of the government - of a main consumer and regulator of the market - is changing too. High school has to review its aims as well.

Several reports were presented during the first half of the conference, among them speeches of Victor Evtukhov "Saint-Petersburg - the electronic capital of Russia", Timur Paltashev "Electronic industry development: the strategy of economic advantage". Mikhail Kazachkov has touched upon the subject of intellectual property protection in the field of electronics. Yuri Mikhailov performed his presentation on developing Special Economic Zones within Saint-Petersburg, and others.

The conference continued with discussions within sections "Special and Military technologies", "Wireless technologies and telecommunications", "Contract manufacturing", "Engineering".

As a result the summary of the most vital questions and suggestions was formulated and redirected to the State Duma representatives, who took part in the conference.

 One of the foreground tasks of the Russian electronics development strategy today is increase in share of Russian manufacturers of electronics within local market up to 50% in the medium-term outlook.  As the conference showed, this task is ambitious, but really feasible.
